DHA, Housing Solutions for North Texas, created the Opportunity Rising Foundation to offer students living in DHA-supported housing access to resources and enriching experiences that empower them to pursue higher education and lifelong learning. The foundation provides scholarships, internships, mentoring opportunities, and more, setting students on a path for successful career opportunities and a higher quality of life.
The application window is now open for the 2024 Opportunity Rising Scholarships! These scholarships are designed for graduating high school seniors residing in DHA-supported housing who will be attending an institution of higher learning in the fall.
Eligibility Requirements:
- The student must reside in DHA-supported housing through the Public Housing or Housing Choice Voucher program.
- The student must be receiving a high school diploma or GED in 2024.
- The student must be enrolling in an institution of higher learning in the fall of 2024
- The student must complete the entire application.
Essay Theme:
The Opportunity Rising Foundation is committed to empowering education by providing funding to students who are typically under-represented in higher education. Describe your education goals and how you will use higher education to seek better life opportunities (500 words or more).
Each essay will be judged on:
- Quality of content
- Ability to captivate the reader
- Originality
- Correct grammar usage (punctuation and spelling)
- Overall presentation
The deadline to apply for the Opportunity Rising Scholarship is Friday, April 26, 2024 at 11:59 p.m.
An online orientation for applicants will be held on April 4 at 6:00 p.m.
