The Opportunity Rising Foundation is hosting a week of college tours this summer from August 3-7, 2026. The foundation will provide chaperones, lodging, transportation, and a daily meal stipend for selected high school students.
College tours give students an opportunity to walk around the campuses where they could be studying for four years, and get a sense of what it’s like to live there. Participants will see firsthand what a college experience could be like, including the unique aspects of each college’s community.
Applications for college tours week opens on Monday, April 27, 2026 and closes on Friday, May 22, 2026. There are 28 spots available for this year’s college tour week.
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Reside in one of DHA’s Housing Programs (Public Housing or the Housing Choice Voucher program)
- Be in grades 9, 10, 11, or 12 and under 19 years of age
- Earn an overall GPA of a C (70) or higher
- Must complete this application process in its entirety
The application process requirements include:
- Submit one recommendation letter (letters can be from an employer, community representative, or school)
- Submit a copy of GPA or Transcript
- Complete the “Let’s Talk About You” section below
- Submit a 500-word typed essay (not to exceed 550 words) on the application. The theme for this year’s essay submission is, “How have you contributed to your community?”
All applicants must have parental consent to apply and participate.
